Description
Antique 19th c. Ship Lamp Lantern with Original Wall BracketPlume & Atwood Mfg. Co, Waterbury, Conn., USA
For your consideration is an interesting brass lamp with its original burner and wall bracket
The brass body is tick and heavy, designed to gimble on the bracket, therefore to be used on a ship
Would be mounted to the wall inside the cabin and be used with a glass chimney
The burner is well marked on the tumble wheel:
"P & A MFG. Co *Waterbury Conn * Made in USA"
It is made by Plume & Atwood Manufacturing Co, which operated under this name in Waterbury Connecticut since 1871. They produced all kind of gas and kerosene lamps, burners and other lamp parts under many patents.
It seams like this particular burner could've been used with two wicks, thicker and thinner, see the 2 wick holes
The burner is on a screw cap that fits on the top.
There is a hole at the bottom of the lamp body, where a weighted hemispherical stand used to be attached
