Description

This vintage brass Perko Gimbaled Ship's Oil Lamp is the scarce LARGE size- Probably the rarest and MOST ELEGANT of the sizes which Perkins Marine produced.  It is in EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION -It retains much of the original 'instrument finish' factory laequering.-No nicks, dings or any of the normal marks of shipboard use.  The photos really don't do it justice--It is a beautiful lamp.
Lamp works well and swings freely.   Dates to the 1960s.  Measures about 13 1/4" tall with the chimney in place, and projects out about 6 1/4"  inches from wall or bulkhead.  Distance to top of burner is 7 1/2".  Burner works well.
Lamp, gimbal and wall mount all have the 'Perko' markings.  Quite WEIGHTY and substantial.  Single thumbscrew retains the lamp in it's mount, allowing it to be easily loosened and moved about the boat or home.   This is a PRACTICAL design which allows the top of the burner to be swung rearwards for lighting and extinguishing.
The large reservoir on this lamp will carry enough lamp oil or kerosene for many weeks or even months of typical use.
Finding an older Perko ship's lamp in this condition is a RARITY.  Remember- This is not more common, small size Perko.  READY TO BRING SOME FIRELIGHT into a Cabin or Nautical Den, or be a  SHOWPIECE in the Salon of a vintage vessel.      This vintage Perko is a great example of this scarce size Perko oil lamp, yet it is offered with a .............Low Starting Bid.
