Nice Antique 1800's Whale Oil Chamber Stick Lamp w/Snuffer Lid
Straight from Log Cabin Owner's Estate Circa 1850-1900
Crafted Metal (brass or other)
Approx: 4.5" W (6" at handle) x 8" High, 18 ounces
Note: This sale is for the single whale oil lamp shown in pictures, not the 2 candle holders shown in last two pictures, we included those pictures in case buyers may have an interest in them. Both candle holders are sold separately in our store & actually from the same log cabin owner's estate.
Really neat antique whale oil lamp with saucer bottom.  We left item just a we acquired it 120+ years of dirt and all.  Many identify these as ship lamps, but they were likely used in homes and other as well.  The lamp can be taken apart for detailed cleaning if someone chooses (see picture 9 in gallery).  The lamp appears to function as designed (although we did not test it) & is a gem for authentic whale oil lamp collectors.  We are offering at very fair price.  This was from an antique collector's log cabin estate sale.  The cabin was like a step back into 1800 America & full of items like this. We are not sure of the exact metal it is fashioned from, but we believe it is brass.  You should be able to burn other oil in lamp if needed, but the few we could find like this that have sold were all identified as whale oil lamps.

: See our Feedback & Buy with confidence.  We ship with extreme care and all items are fully insured!  We often take from 30-90 minutes packing more delicate & odd sized items to make sure your treasure is protected.  We also photograph most items above 0 while packing in case a shipper were to ever damage an item (only one time in over 2,000 US shipped sales).  For this reason, if an item is ever damaged, it will be the Buyer's responsibility to file a claim with the shipping service and we can provide photos from packing to assist Buyers.  The process is not difficult, but the timing of such does not allow adequate time for the item to be returned to us and then for us to proceed with a claim (chain of custody questions can arise as well on returned items due to double shipping and handling so it is just easier for Buyers).  So again, as noted in listing, we do not offer returns.  Sales tax is charged according to your state or country's regulations.  Of course, there is free local pick up and we can meet to assist if you are near Indianapolis or driving through.  We do this often.
Let us know if you want signature confirmation your item if it is above 0, we will not require it otherwise unless shipping service requires.  FedEx & Others are beginning to require signature on items above 0-0.  Also, we have discounts with FedEx & eBay on shipping which do not always show up in eBay estimates on shipping. We try to refund what we can when there is a notable difference, but we do not know until we actually process the shipping order.
