Antique Bronze Coal Miners Frog Oil Lamp
This is a 19th Century oil lamp originally used by the coal miners in Germany. It was later used by other coal miners in the late 19 and early 20th Century. This lamp appears to be made of bronze and weighs over 1 pound. This type of hanging lamp is known as a frog lamp, possibly because of its
similarity
to that amphibian. The hook is sharp to be pushed into the wood timbers or other surface.
The lamp measures 10" tall when the chain is fully extended and the base
measures approximately 4.5" at the widest.
